Logan from 2017 is one of the best films from the Marvel universe. Fox gave the popular hero Wolverine a well -deserved farewell with a really good film. Logan is based on a well -known comic, but the original story is very different.
Danger: The following article leads to spoilers from the Wolverine comic series: Old Man Logan.
What is Logan about? In 2017, Logan was published by James Mangold. The film is very different from classic superhero films. Wolverine is an old man in a post -apocalypse and takes care of the sick Charles Xavier. Suddenly he finds a young mutant who wants to take care of.
Logan was an emotional farewell letter to Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman. The template for the film was the Comic series Wolverine: Old Man Logan by Mark Miller and Steve McNiven from 2008. This is also about an old Wolverine, but the similarities almost end.
Wolverine: Old Man Logan is more brutal, tragic and much absurd than the film, and the comic could never really have been adapted.

Logan is a broken man who only wants his calm
What is Wolverine: Old Man Logan? The film from 2017 is only based on the X-Men Universe of 20th Century Fox, but only a few known mutants occur. In the comic, the history of far -reaching is in the entire universe of Marvel.
The earth is a post -apocalyptic desert, and there are no real heroes anymore. The United States is divided into zones and ruled by villains. Logan lives with his family on a farm in the area of the Hulk gang, a group of Hulks incestuous family. To pay the rent, he accepts a job from the blind Hawkeye and embarks on a journey through the destroyed states.
On this trip, however, Logan refuses to use his iconic claws, and you can see the country occupied by villains. This Marvel future vision is as unscrupulous as absurd. These include the following things:
The von Wolverine family is killed by the Hulk Gang and Wolverine awakens his claws again to take revenge on Bruce Banner and his family. This is also presented quite explicitly in the comic.
Wolverine’s tragic past
Why did Wolverine even stop using his claws? In the 2017 film, a doctor ensured that the majority of mutants die from poisoned food and drink. The remaining mutants died because of Charles Xavier, who has released his strength uncontrollably due to a seizure.
Something else happened in the original comic. One day, dozens of villain attacked the home of the X-Men. Wolverine was apparently the only one who was there and killed all attacking villains in a brutal struggle. But that was just a deception. Wolverine was tricked by Mysterio and killed all his friends and comrades.
Afterwards Wolverine wandered through the world and never fought again as the well -known hero until he found his family and passed the events of the comic.
What happens at the end of the comic? After Logan took revenge on the Hulk gang, he wandered through the dark world with the baby named Bruce Banner Jr. He reminds a lot of lonely western heroes without a home.
Too absurd for the cinema?
Why does the original story differ so much from the film? Of course, this cannot be said 100 %, but you can certainly assume. On the one hand, the right question is a plausible argument. At that time, Fox had only the rights to certain figures and Marvel would hardly have allowed to present figures like the Hulk as in the comic.
Another argument is the story itself. In the comic, a mixture of many figures and styles fits, in a film it is much more difficult to present. Aspects such as an incestate hulk gang, a Venom-T-Rex or a destroyed world full of crazy super villains do not match the classic superhero film.
Nevertheless, a look at the comic is worthwhile for X-Men fans and fans of the films, because it offers an interesting WorldBuilding and a lot of action for fans of adult stories.
