At the end of 2024, the Riksbank wanted to see a requirement that traders who sell vital goods, such as food and medicine, would receive cash when demanded by the customer.

– The majority of Sweden’s population can make their purchases with cards or other digital means. However, there is still a number of people who are outside the payment system, has the Riksbank’s press spokesman Susanne Meyer said in a previous interview with News24.

Does ATM have a maximum limit?

In other words, cash is still important. Anyone who wants to take out banknotes makes themselves wise to turn to ATMs, but it should turn out that these have a maximum limit.

The maximum amount for how much you can take is different depending on which bank you have.

If you have a card whose publisher is not a customer with ATM, the maximum amount applies to SEK 2,000, that is, you can only charge SEK 2,000 at a time.

How many banknotes can you take out?

ATMs also have a maximum capacity on how many banknotes you can take out at a time. For each individual vending machine, there is a restriction of 30 banknotes at a time.
