Few children can handle a switch – they bet on gymnastics

Few children in Sweden can handle a regular switch, and only three percent follow the official recommendations for diet and exercise.
In Fisksätra, outside Stockholm, the association life is now choosing to invest in gymnastics to strengthen the motorcycle at an early age.
– The more kids we get to move, the easier it will be for them in the future, says Jonas Cherkani, chairman of Fisksätra IF.

Reports indicate that sedentary is most widespread in socio -economically vulnerable areas, where children often lack good conditions for training. With special contributions, Fisksätra IF has therefore started a new gymnastics section to get more families to report their children. Jonas Cherkani says that many children are unaccustomed to running and playing, which can affect them later in life.

– We notice that many children find it difficult to move, they look uncomfortable when they run and this also applies to simple games outdoors, he says.

The weight of basic motor skills

Between walls and carpets in Fisksätra Multihall, children now train on cobbles and simpler gymnastics exercises. Coach Yasmine Mchat emphasizes the importance of giving children good basic motor skills:

– We only have one body and it should last all of their lives. Gymnastics and basic motor skills are A and O.

For nine -year -old Oliwer Paulin Lundberg, the training has already had an effect:

– I notice a huge difference between myself. Now I can make the swings without taking support with my arms. You get both stronger and smoother.

The Gymnastics Association supports the initiative through the initiative Sports Life and makes contributions to associations in areas that the police classify as vulnerable. There, a clear increase in the number of participants has been seen.

– The interest is soaring. In several places, the number of children in the gymnastics groups has doubled or tripled, says business developer Johanna Hedgårdh at the Gymnastics Association.
