So should staff shortage be resolved
According to the report from Skr It is not enough to only recruit, employers must also invest in developing the staff already available by, for example, using new technologies and improving the working conditions.
The report also shows that if more part -time employees increase their working hours by three hours per week, the need for new employment in the elderly care would decrease by 8,000 people.
Another way to reduce the shortage is if more people work longer, and retire later. If the retirement age is increased from 64 years to 66 years, the need for new hires would decrease by 15,000 people.
– Finding the right skills is a major challenge, but elderly care is a future industry with great opportunities, says Sabina Joyau.
