Which company is it about? Holaluz is a Spanish company that specializes in the marketing of energy. In 2024, Holaluz was about to bankrupt and had to save money. For this reason, it was decided in the company to return to a 100 percent presence model, on the grounds that long-distance work is incompatible with the situation. One referred to an “internal evaluation of the functioning of teleworking”, but did not provide the data of the evaluation.

This radical decision had unexpected consequences: the termination of a quarter of its employees. In addition to the dismissals, the abolition of telework triggered an indefinite strike, which was initiated by the unions UGT and CGT. The employees protested the significant change in their working conditions and demanded that the telework work maintain. Now it’s about finding a compromise in the company.
