Three Congolese humanitarian workers in Swiss Protestant Mutual Aid (EPER) was killed on Wednesday, February 5 during a mission in North Kivu, in the territory of Rutshuru. The organization strives, she says, to collect precise information on the circumstances of the attack which cost them their lives. The EPER firmly condemned this act, calling it a serious violation of international humanitarian law and suspended its activities in North Kivu until further notice. This attack illustrates the deterioration of working conditions for NGOs in the region, where increasing insecurity complicates humanitarian access every day.
