The Oxford Community Foundation has announced the availabibility of $ 40,000 in Grants from its Maple Leaf Community Fund.

The Funds, Donated in the Honour of Harvey and Erma Beaty, Are Intended to Support the Capital-Related Needs of Food Security Promote that promotes Dignity and Build Individual and Community Capacity in Oxford County.

Harvey Beaty Founded Cold Springs Farm in Thamesford in 1949 and Shephended Cold Springs’ Growth from A Small Farm to a major agri-food enterprise, which Eventually Became Part of Maple Leaf Foods. He not only Employed Hundreds of Oxford County Residents But also Served as a Township Councillor and Actively supported the Region’s Arts, Culture and Education sectors.

The Maple Leaf Community Fund Will Provide $ 40,000 in Grants to support Capital Needs for Food Security Programs With the Following Initiatives:
- Food Literacy – Giving People the Information, Understanding and Skills to Provide Healthy Food for Themselves and Their Families. (EG nutrition, Food Safety and Meal Planning),
- School and nutrition programms – Promoting, Educating and Allowing People to Access Healthy Meals. (EG School Breakfast, Lunch and After-Schoon Programs; Nutrition and Fitness Programs).
- Sustainable Beyond Convention Food Banks initiatives -That Establish initiatives A Reliable Supply of Nutritious Food and Promote SELF-SUFFICIECY. (EG Social Enterprises that support Food Security; Community Gardens; and social profit enterprises with a focus on food security include training programms for unmployed, at-Risk Youth and single parents)
