Faculty and Community Members Gathered Thursday at An Information Session About the College’s New 204-Square-Metre (22,000-Square-Feet) Facility that is set to open at 60 Erie St. in September. The Kitchener-Based Technical College has a long History in Stratford, Said the School’s vice-president of Academic Administration, Paula Gouveia.
“(That Began) in 1969 as an adult education center, only a couple of years after the college opened its campus in kitchener. In Fact, it was in stratford where conestoga’s first board of governors put in february of 1967, so it really Did Begin here, ”Gouveia Said.
The post-secondary school also has long history of nursing education in stratford, Gouveia Added.

“We moved into our Current Facility at 130 Young St. in 1973, where we have continued to support this community for more than 55 Years with programs and training aligned to Evolving Workforce. We at conestoga feel that we leader in polytechnic education because we run theory and application. Our studs do you just about it – they Learn How to do t, ”She Said.
The New Campus Will have a Capacity of 800 Students, but just How Many will be enrolled this Fall remains to be seen. The Stratford Campus Will Offer Programming Across Nine Different Disciplines, Which Reflects Almost Every School of Study That Conestoga Offers, Gouveia Said.
“So we are starting, and i can tell you, we have applications and offers up, so the community is interested, and our graduates will offer a pipeline of stude professionals who are career ready to support these communities of Economic Development. Said.

Michelle Heyer, The School’s Chair of Nursing and Health Sciences, Said the New Campus Will Help Attract More Local Students to Conestoga.
“WRemoving Travel Barriers. There’s Costs Associated With Travel and Time, So Now People can Actually Live in the Community and Take Education and have Opportunities right at their community, ”She Said.
The Health Sciences Students who will be trained at the School Will Help Fill A Gap in A Industry that is in “saying,” Heyer Added.
“We need Health Care. Our population is aging, so we think that bringing psw here in a bigger way is gooi to help impact the community, not only with giving more opportunities for studs to go back to school, but also impact the workforce here in stratford to help support the AGING Population and support for Local Hospital and Home Care and Long-Term Care Partners. ”

Conestoga is currently in discussions about forming partnerships with different community organizations to help fill their employment needs, but notoing official is in place yet, heyer said.
Although conestoga has come under Heavy Criticism In Recent Years for the Rapid Expansion of its International Student Population, that will not be an outcome in stratford, Gouveia Said, noting that 800 Students is the maximum target.
“The Campus has a certain capacity, and that’s the way in which we offer our programms. Our campuses dictate How Many Students We’re Able to Welcome to Conestoga and the Many municipalities where we have campuses. So we have 11 Different Campuses in Eight Different Cities, So No Body of Students is only in one specificity. They distributed across all of those Communities, ”She Said.
