Ebba Andersson and the other cross-country skiers saw the SM course

Several riders crashed, others were slipping and doing well.
The SM tracks in Borås were during all criticism during Thursday evening.
– It was very challenging today – so it wasn’t the most fun skiing I’ve been to, says Ebba Andersson to Expressen.

Winter’s SM week has started in Borås. For the country’s skiers, competitions await Thursday to Saturday (February 6-8). During Thursday evening, the sprint competition was decided and the winners were named not surprising Jonna Sundling and Marcus Grate. What was a bit remarkable, however, was how bad the SM track was.

The rider’s criticism of slippery SM track

It was a messy premiere night at Skid-SM. Since there is no rubbing natural snow in Borås at the moment, the organizers had worked with artificial snow to get a sprint course. Despite all the wear and tear, it wasn’t really good. The evening offered lightning.

Already in the prologue, riders were slipping around the tracks and was afraid to slip down the small slopes.
– In the quarter, I was starting to cry because I didn’t understand how to go. It was a very special path, says Johanna Hagström to Expressen.

Ebba Andersson tells about the big challenge

During the evening, several riders ended up outside the track markings because they slipped out of the track. Some also had the misfortune to crash completely. For Emma Ribom It was about “surviving”. She says it was like going on “uncut skates”. Also the national team buddy Ebba Andersson testifies to the challenging conditions.
– It was really, really hard to go out there. You were really out on slippery ice. The ski slides all the time. It was very challenging today – so it wasn’t the most fun skiing I’ve been through, says Ebba.

Emil Danielsson came second on the men’s side. He says that all six finalists were slipping at some point.
– I think we all six were down anyway with some knee on the slopes sometime during the final. It was parody. We were all like Bambi on slippery ice out there, he says.

Congratulations to the SM gold, Sundling and Grate! It will be exciting to follow this on to see if it gets better with the tracks. Fight on!
