The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers Panama’s decision to be regrettable.
Panama withdraws from China’s ambitious Belt and Road project.
The decision has been overcome by the Chinese Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The Ministry is blaming the United States.
-China strongly opposes the October campaign and sabotage against the US Belt and Road project, which it implements both by pressure and forced, says the Foreign Ministry spokesman.
China says he is very sorry for Panama’s solution.
– We hope that Panama is thinking about it again, considering all our common interests.
The purpose of the Chinese Belt and Road project is to increase trading between China and other countries participating in the project, by developing rail connections and port infrastructure. China has funded the project with hundreds of billions of euros.
US president Donald Trump said early in the week that Panama has agreed to concessions Foreign Minister Marco Rubion visit Panama Canal.
