Anders takes on tough hiking trails in a wheelchair

Anders has traveled around the Vasalopps Trail • Want to inspire others: “There our disability is an advantage”

When a depression hit Anders others, nature became his way back.
Anders lives with spinal cord hernia and sits in a wheelchair. Today he works to inspire others with functional variation to discover outdoor life.
– Everything goes until the opposite has been proven, says Anders Seconde in News Morning.

In 2007 Anders Seconde underwent a failed operation. The complications led to him falling into a depression. He therefore took the help of a psychologist to find back to life.

– She told me to set three goals that I wanted to do next year. And then nature was a matter of course, says Anders.

“Everything goes to the opposite proven”

Anders lives with spinal cord hernia and sits in a wheelchair. Today, Anders has passed two of the goals. To take on Klarälvsbanan’s nine miles and to go on a month’s long training camp on Tenerife.

Three times he has tried to climb the mountain Städjan, the southernmost peak in the Swedish mountain massif. Despite obstacles on the road, he does not give up.

– Everything goes until the opposite is proven. Then you have come a long way. Then it just has to test. You have to start where you feel safe. Then you have to go further and further out. But I have encountered problems too, absolutely. Had to return home with wheelchairs that pie and all that.

“There I think our disability is an advantage”

Together with his friend Calle, Anders Föreningen Skogtur started to inspire people with functional variation to get out into nature. The great interest has led to the project “The Long Hike” and Anders has traveled around the Vasalopp Trail together with people with functional variation. He emphasizes how his own experience of functional variation can provide increased understanding of the needs of others.

– When we go to the finish, then we have changed telephone numbers and email addresses with each other. And the advantage of having a disability is that you have an understanding of how others feel. Whether you are tired or not feeling so good. So there I think our disabilities are an advantage. We think a little differently.

The meaning of the dog iris

The dog Iris is on almost all adventures that Anders takes on. He describes her as his life mate. When Anders organizes walks in the association, he also sees what impact she has on others.

– I see how much she means to them too. That they open themselves very easily. Many people come there and are sad. Some who are sad or not feel so good may hold the leash. It is enough for many to have made their day.
