It was no successful day for the Swedish skiers in JVM.
Then SVT expert Mathias Fredriksson raged against the union-because they did not take out last year’s double gold medalist Alvar Myhlback.
– I am still unaware of how the union can be so stupid that they do not pick him up for the championship, he says in SVT.
Alvar Myhlback18, was the king of JVM last year. He took two gold medals and created headlines in the ski world. This year he is not selected, because he chose not to go the mandatory qualifying races. The ski association’s decision has made many Swedes puzzled.

Myhlback himself was very annoyed when he found out that he was nobbing. Although it was a conscious choice from him to ignore the JVM test in Bergeforsen a few weekends ago, when he instead invested in the long-running cup at senior level, he was surprised that they had no indulgence with it.
“They make a decision that is neither good for me or for them, he said at a press conference before the JVM squad was presented.

After Wednesday’s weak Swedish effort in the championship, more people have reacted strongly to the union’s decision to leave Alvar at home. The U23 riders offered a total of four medals on Tuesday, but at the junior level it did not go as well at all. Best Swedish in the women’s class came in 21st place, which according to the SVT expert Mathias Fredriksson Is “… a sub -grade for Swedish skiing”.

There were words and no songs from Fredriksson. The expert says in the same broadcast that he hopes that the juniors who competed on Wednesday will go home and train really hard, because what he saw was not good enough.
– I hope they go home and do the job now, because they have many years left on their careers. Good juniors may not be good seniors. But for Sweden as a nation, I had wished we had better juniors, for a good breadth with juniors give some good seniors, he says.
