For most of us, shopping at ICA is an important part of the so -called life puzzle. Since ICA today has over 1,300 stores in Sweden with about 50,000 people working in offices or in one of the stores, it is almost a business if you have never ever found yourself at all of the food giant’s stores.
But the ICA stores differ from each other.
Among all the country’s ICA stores you will find everything from gigantic ICA Maxis to small ICA Nära. No matter how large or small the store is, there are some “pillars” in foods that are found on almost everyone.

Among other things, there is dairy, fruits and vegetables and in the bread deliveries there is often a variation between “buy bread” such as “lingongrova” and “roast and toast” but also plates and loaves that the store baked itself.

Working in an ICA store means that you are exposed daily to many customers with different age and personalities. You should make sure that the shelves are fresh and filled while helping the customers who have trouble finding certain goods. On top of this, many employees in the store take turns sitting at the checkout.

With everything that has to work in a store, it can be appreciated when you as a customer are reasonably compliant in their actions.

– Most customers are incredibly nice and reasonable when shopping. But of course it sometimes happens that you find a soft drink can in the freezer that exploded. Then you have to take part of your day to clean, and indirectly it affects other customers, says Anna Winblad which works at ICA Tegelplan in Östersund.
Is there anything else that a customer can do to simplify for you who work?
– Maybe to turn the barcode against yourself when you put the goods on the band. This instead of building towers with the goods. This is appreciated!
The ICA store introduced new rules into the store
ICA Tegelplan in Östersund is one of many ICA stores in the country that has been forced to change the rules for school students entering the store. This is due to an increase in mockery, small thefts and general stumps when students enter into larger groups.

In many places, the new rules have provided a significant return. Although the reactions from, among other things, parents varied.
– The reactions have been mostly good. But quite mixed anyway. When we posted a post on our own ICA Facebook page, some people thought we pointed out young people and took in too hard while others felt that what we did was just right and thought it was good for our employees not to need to work in a threatening environment, Anna told News24.
Don’t miss: The store manager’s appeal: Think about this when you buy milk at ICA
– At many stores they have chosen to port young people completely while we felt that we still want to give them the opportunity to shop.

Anna goes on to News24 that it is always nice when customers who shop want to talk a bit and that it is always welcome.
Do you get some praise and nice words from customers?
– Yes, but we get that and it really makes all employees so happy. Most customers who shop are super nice.
If there are many in an ICA store that linger after closing, the staff is forced to remain. Image source: Janerik Henriksson / TT
This when you slip in the store before closing to jerk a trolley and shop. How long is ok to shop when it closes in a few minutes?
– If you take a milk package and go to the checkout, there is of course no problem. But when there are many while lingering for a while, those who work can be forced to stay for a very long time to be able to fix everything that must be fixed after closing. By law, there must have been some time between the job pass and so on so sometimes it has simply become so that we have to change the schedule so that everything is handled correctly, she concludes.
So you should shop just before closing – keep in mind that the staff also wants to go home, cook sausage stroganoff and check out the antique round.
