Rumors and incorrect information about the deadly school shooting in Örebro are disseminated, according to police.

The police are now inviting the public to adhere to official channels for accurate information.

“One should think about not spreading rumors and speculation because it can make the police work more difficult and it can also create distrust,” police spokesman Gabriel Henning told TT.

“Police see that incorrect narratives are spread in their quarters in social media regarding the shooting in Örebro,” police say on their site at 01 o’clock the night until Wednesday.

“We therefore want to be clear that, according to investigative tasks and intelligence information, there are currently no information that indicates that the perpetrator acted on the basis of ideological motives,” the statement continues.

– It is important to let the investigation of this horrific crime have its way in order to bring complete clarity in the course of events, says Gabriel Henning.

He also points out that the police monitor digital environments and are in contact with social media platforms.

– We interact with digital platforms to identify and remove content online that could drive threatening moods, says Gabriel Henning, adding that he does not have details about what platforms it applies or what the collaboration looks like.
