15 people at Boliden in Norwegian Odda have been able to seek medical care after receiving sulfur oxides.
– It is a worker at Boliden and this should have happened yesterday, says police Ole Ronny Olsen to Bergen’s time.
The police do not know if the people are hospitalized or if they have been allowed to go home.
The Swedish mining group Boliden has a zinc melt in Odda, located southeast of the mountains.
Sulfur dioxide is a colorless gas with a sharp odor, which can affect the respiratory system and lung function and cause the eyes irritation, according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
