Nearly 900,000 customers of an EDF contract will see their invoice stop blazing.
The electricity prices have finally dropped. After months and years of successive increases, February 1 marked a turning point since 80% of French people are now paying less energy. All contracts at the regulated sales rate, the “blue rate”, are concerned.
Beyond this good news, another rejoicing concerns thousands of subscribers to EDF and few realized it. One of the contracts offered by the energy company sees one of its specificities ending, allowing the customers concerned to save major savings for several months.
Among the different electricity offers, there is the tempo contract. This is a specific contract in which the price varies according to the days. Between 1er September and August 31, EDF can apply up to 22 red days. These are days during which the price of electricity is torched. Compared to a normal day, the kWh price is multiplied by almost five during full hours (from 0.1609 €/kWh to 0.7562 €/kWh).
Thus, it is strongly recommended, on these days, to postpone the use of energy-consuming equipment, such as the washing machine, the dishwasher or the dryer, but also to disconnect the sockets as much as possible so as not to See the invoice fly away.
Usually the 875,000 customers who subscribed to a tempo offer saw red days be applied until March. This year, the quota was quickly used. Indeed, Monday, February 3, 2025 marked 22e and last red day of the year. It must be said that in January, the households concerned were not spared: 13 red days were applied during the month, the second largest total over a single month after the 15 red days of January 2022.
Consequence: with the 8 red days already applied in December, the quota was reached in early February. Good news for many households, coupled with the drop in prices, since it also applies to the Tempo offer. The invoice will not fly away.
Now, customers will see by the end of August 26 white days and 109 blue days apply, all with prices per kWh lower than the traditional “blue price” which has already decreased. Between 11 and 23% savings are made in white and blue day thanks to this special pricing.
