You may see your WhatsApp account automatically deleted losing all your conversations if you do not meet certain conditions, including a rule that few people know.
With more than two billion users, WhatsApp is undoubtedly the most popular messaging application in the world. But if it is renowned for its simplicity and its effectiveness, it imposes very strict rules on its use, quite unknown rules, especially since they are sometimes modified in a very discreet way. And some are very important, because users who do not respect them, can see their account purely and simply deleted, without warning.
Among the known rules, there is of course the prohibition of spam, fraudulent behavior or the use of unofficial versions of the application, such as WhatsApp Plus or WhatsApp ++, which add special functions. Using these tools or breaking these conditions of use can lead to the immediate suspension of an account.
But there is another much less obvious rule which leads to the same sanction: prolonged inactivity. Indeed, if you do not connect to the application for more than 120 days, your account will be automatically deleted, taking with it all your conversations, your contacts and your history. A brutal and definitive deletion which is done without notice, exposing uninformed users to unpleasant surprises.
The rule is simple: WhatsApp considers an account as “inactive” if the user does not connect to the application for four consecutive months. It is essential to recall that for your account to remain active, it is not enough to open the application without internet connection, it must detect an online activity. If you are used to abandoning the application for several months, you may lose access to your discussions, groups and not saved files locally. Once the account is deleted, you will also be excluded from all your discussion groups.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, justifies this measure by reasons of security and data protection. An inactive account is perceived as vulnerable to cyber attacks, hence the need to remove it after a certain period of inactivity. This approach also aims to limit the conservation of unnecessary data. Thus, WhatsApp guarantees regular cleaning of obsolete profiles.
If your account has been deleted, it is possible to recreate it using the same phone number, but you will have to say goodbye to all your conversations, contacts and unaccompanied files. In addition, you will automatically leave the groups in which you participate, and your data can only be recovered asking your contacts to send them back to you.
To avoid any unpleasant surprises, be sure to connect regularly to the application, even if you only use it punctually. This will allow you to keep your account active and not lose your data, contacts, groups and conversations.
