The British Hollywood star Hugh Grant can look back on a varied film career that started with love films in the 90s. Of all things One of his most famous roles gives him a headache.
Grant finds his figure in Notting Hill “despised”
It was not until November 2024 that the Spiegel took an interview with Vanity Fair, in which cinema famous Hugh Grant spoke about his films. It was also about Grant’s figure in the romantic comedy Notting Hill.
As a reminder: Here Grant embodied the London bookshop owner William Thacker, who fell in love with the actress Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) during a spontaneous encounter.
While Grant finds only words of admiration for the performance of his fellow actor Julia Robert, he looks back on his own figure Thacker critically:
Whenever I switch through the channels at home after a few drinks and that comes, I just think: Why does my figure have no eggs?
Apparently a very specific scene from Notting Hill still provided questions in the actor’s private environment:
I have never had a girlfriend or woman who didn’t say: Why did you not stop her about the hell? What’s wrong with you? And I don’t really have an answer to it. And I think he’s really despised.
From today’s perspective, the behavior of his figure Thacker is actually not entirely understandable.
This film scene in Notting Hill still causes outrage
The scene in Notting Hill, which provides outrage, is the one in which Paparazzi Anna Scott finds in Thacker’s house and simply storm in to photograph the actress.
Thacker literally only stands at the open door and lets the package pass him by. He doesn’t even try to stop her.
In the meantime, the actor can also be found in very different genres: It was not until 2024 that the horror film Heretic appeared, in which Grant plays one of the leading roles.
