– I’ve been in this situation since I was eight years old. I don’t know about any other life. I just learned to live with it, because you have to, said Inger Nilsson then.

In the same television program, Inger Nilsson told us that it took ten-to-twenty years before she could even mention the character Pippi by name.
– Now I can feel a little tenderness for Pippi. Now I like the character. It’s not that I have disliked it before, but I haven’t had the chance to stand from outside and watch everything. Now I think I can. Now I can talk about Pippi, said Inger Nilsson.

The Pippi actresses became super celebrities
The character Pippi Longstocking lives in Villa Villekulla with his spotted horse little old man and his monkey Mr. Nilsson. As neighbors, she has Tommy and Annika Settergren, two characters who also play a big role in the films. They are played by Pär Sundberg and Maria Persson.

And the Pippi success was quickly a fact. The three children became super celebrities when the series began to be broadcast in 1969. In 2025, the beloved character Pippi Longstocking celebrates 80 years, and when News24 Met Inger Nilsson at the Guldbaggegalan, she was asked if she will pay attention to the anniversary year.
– No, it’s not something I have planned, but everyone else has planned I can say. Oh, what is called and talked about and written books. There are articles and movies and everything.
– It is the character that turns 80, not the movie in any way.
Do you have contact with any of the other actors today?
– Yes, I sometimes meet, or above all, I write with Pär and Maria who play Tommy and Annika. So we have contact.
