Erotic shop in Borlänge sees continued high sales of sex toys: “Very new gadgets for men”

– Today there is much more design and quality material on things and people have become more open with having a sex toy, says Helena Rosenblad.

When people were quarantined during the pandemic, sales of sex toys increased sharply for several companies.

– Sales are steadily stable even after the pandemic, says Helena Rosenblad, who is not alone in noticing that the interest is holding.

“Prioritize sexual health”

One of the largest e-commerce companies for sex toys states that sales are at a higher level than before the pandemic:

– Customers are again prepared to buy some more expensive products. We believe that despite tougher economic times, they prioritize their sexual health, says Tobias Fransson, CEO of Purefun Group.

Pharmacy has started selling sex toys

Sex toys have also started to be sold in more stores and, among others, Lyko and Apoteket have in recent years invested more in these types of products.

– After 2020, sales in the category have grown a little faster than Lyko’s other sales, but this is not yet a larger proportion of our sales, says Lyko’s communications manager Thom Törnblom.

Buys on the way to the mountains

Customers in Helena’s business come from Dalarna and other counties, many take the opportunity to stay on their way up to the mountains.

– They stay here and buy a little extra Valla or an extra rod, says Helena with a laugh.
