Walpole Man Caught with Shotgun Jaled 6 Months

A Walpole Island Man has been sentenced to six months in jail for two more offer linked to firearms.

A Sarnia Courtroom Recently Heard Walpole Island Police, who’d been feels to check on Joseph Shipman on seven. 24, Found Him on Creek Road South in the First Nation Between Sarnia and Chatham and Arrested Him. During the Chase Police Saw Him Toss A Backpack. After Finding it, they discovered a disassembled Winchester 120 12-Gauge Shotgun Wrapped in Sweater. They also Found Five 12-Gauge Shotgun Shells.

A Walpole Island Detective Later Confirmed the Shotgun Could Easily be Reassembled. Shipman was under several short organ ban from Firearms.

Shipman, 25, Recently Pleaded Guilty from the Elgin-Middlesex detention Center in London to Possessing a Firearm Without A License and Possessing A Firearm While Prohibited and was jiled six months. The Court Heard He Previously was Jaled 140 Days in 2023 for similar weapons-related offer.

“There is concerning Record,” Nila Mulpuru, Lambton’s Acting Crown Attorney, Said.

“His record is meaningful and anviable,” Justice Mark Poland Agreed.

Defense Lawyer Jennifer Prosser Said Her Customer Suffers from Intergenerational trauma as he has family who wsent to Canada’s training residential schools. He also deals with a drug addiction, but he wtez cold turkey while in jail, she said.

Shipman Declined a Chance to Address the Court.

Along with the Jail Sentence, He’s been Banned from weapons for the rest of his life.

Other charges he was facing were dropped.
