Prosecutor: 37 children exposed • “terribly” • revealed by private person
Prosecutor Linda Caneus claimed two years in prison for the man who should have filmed naked children in the swimming pool dressing room. The trial had its last day on Thursday and now it takes two weeks until the verdict is announced, something P4 Kalmar Be the first to report.
The man himself recognizes abusive photography, but denies child pornography offenses.
– He goes on that it is he who has filmed but believes that he did not intend to create abuse material. He did not understand that there was an abuse material against children that he portrayed, says Linda Caneus.
And there have been strenuous days in court, for both the defendant and the legal staff.
– It was pretty strenuous for everyone who was there. It was strenuous for parents, guardians who would take part in all the documented film and the visual material. It was strenuous for us who work in court.
Filmed with a secret app
According to Caneus, the man had installed an app in the phone that helped him film in hidden mode.
– He had a sports bag where he hid the mobile phone in the side compartment which he had then installed a special app in which could film even though the mobile was otherwise closed off. The screen was black. So the bag was forced with the foot so that it focused on the little children and their bare bodies.
The man must have visited the swimming pool on several occasions and filmed in the dressing room and at the showers. But one day it was a private person who noticed the man’s behavior.
– It was a very attentive private person who was in the swimming pool with his grandchild. He noted the man who behaved strangely, took off and on the same stocking, says Linda Caneus.
Was discovered by a private person: “huge civil remedy”
The private person contacted the staff at the swimming pool, who the next time they saw the man who behaved strangely called the police there.
– The police came to the swimming pool immediately. They pulled him up from the pool and took him in for questioning. The cellphone was seized and it turned out to be very many occasions where he documented naked children. Even that day he had filmed naked children.
Caneus believes that the case stands out, because it includes so many defendants and despite the fact that the investigation has been going on for about a year, they have still not been able to identify all children who are visible in the man’s films.
– There are parents who are worried that it has spread, but we cannot show that it has. There are other parents who have been in the swimming pool and who are worried that their children will be exposed.
– It creates concern. In the swimming pool and the dressing room you should feel calm, safe and be at peace.
And Caneus wants to emphasize how important it was that the defendant’s deviant behavior in the dressing room was noticed.
– It was an advisable public who sounded an alarm. A huge civil remedy. Without him you do not know what the next step would have been.
