After layoffs, supporters want to sue the studio behind Camelot Unchained, Daoc veteran is silent

According to a former lead of Unchained Entertainment, almost half of the developers who had worked on the MMORPG Camelot Unchained are said to have been released.

Update from February 01, 2025: After reporting on the layoffs at Unchained Entertainment, parts of the supporters think loudly about pursuing the developer if there should be no detailed schedule for Camelot Unchained in the foreseeable future (via Massivelyop.com). To date, no official has been said about the status quo of the MMORPG.

The only reaction that existed comes from Community Manager Travis Parley. The latter said that he passed the feedback from the player to studio founder Mark Jacobs and that there will be an answer within the next 90 days. That doesn’t sound just good for Camelot Unchained, right?

Who reports of the layoffs? Andrew Meggs was a co -founder of City State Entertainment, from which Unchained Entertainment later became. Before that, he had worked online as a lead client engineer for EA Mythic on Warhammer. He has been software engineer at Meta since October 2022.

Those Andrew Meggs shit in a post on Linkedin.com that there had already been layoffs at the studio of the MMORPG Camelot Unchained: “Unfortunately, I heard that> 40 % of Unchained Entertainment (formerly City State Entertainment)) were released last week. About 24 out of 55 employees. “

It looks dark

What does this mean for Camelot Unchained? Actually, the MMORPG, for which there was a Kickstarter campaign in 2013, should be outside for a long time. However, the team of industry veteran Mark Jacobs (Dark Age of Camelot) kept getting bogged down, had to deal with money problems or was steered by other projects such as the PVE-MMO final: Ragnarök.

After a long development time and many shifts in March 2024 there was suddenly a surprising status update from the chief developer: Camelot Unchained is scheduled to appear late in 2025. Due to the turbulent development and the fact that the last update on the official website of the MMORPG comes from January 2024, we were skeptical.

The current message has of course increased skepticism. It remains to be seen whether the remaining team is sufficient to be able to publish the MMORPG in a reasonable state. A person responsible from Massivelyop.com has already contacted Mark Jacobs and asked for clarification. As soon as there is an official statement, we update this message.
