US president Donald Trump says that he is going to “definitely” put import duties on the European Union. Trump commented on reporters in a white house.
According to him, the EU has treated the United States very poorly.
Trump has threatened several countries with hard import duties. Earlier on Friday, the White House reported that Trump would hold his decision on duties on Canada, Mexico and China. These duties are due to enter into force on Saturday. Trump has said he sets up 25 % for Canada and Mexico and China.
In addition, Trump announced that he was going to place imported duties on oil and gas around February 18th. According to Reuters news agency, Trump did not named the countries that these duties are affected.
Trump was also asked if the customs order that entered into force on Saturday also covered Canadian crude oil, which is brought to the United States. It is used especially by refineries in the US biscuit. Trump replied that he was likely to lower the customs fee for Canadian crude oil to 10 %.
