Leif Olsson’s career
He became “Loket” with the entire Swedish people and has a solid career behind him as a TV program manager, sports journalist, radio speaker, dance band singer and handball judge. Most people associate Olsson as ”Mr. Bingolotto “But he began his career as a true handball profile.

The Gothenburg citizen was a handball judge already during the Summer Olympics in 1972 in Munich and then went on to become chairman of the Gothenburg Handball Association. He later also became a board member of the Swedish Handball Association for several years and has played an important role in the development of the sport in our elongated country.
The nickname “Loket”
But where does the nickname LOket really come from? In the 1970s, Leif started working for radio sports and then got to know a certain Ingvar Oldsberg.

When they worked together in connection with an all -Swedish match in Borås, the program manager Oldsberg would hand over to the sent reporter, who was Leif Olsson. But at that time there was already a player named Leif Olsson in Elfsborg and was called “Loket”.

Therefore, Ingvar Oldsberg said the following jokingly in the live broadcast:
– And how is Leif “Loket” Olsson at Ryavallen? Over to our own “Loket”, Leif Olsson!
It was the start of an iconic nickname stuck with all Swedes. Today we think of Leif “Loket” Olsson who has fallen asleep, he turned 82 years old.
