The Rain also is expected to read the Ice Sheet on the Thames River, but not break it up fully, the Authority Said.

AREAS IN THE WEST END OF THE LOWER Thames Watershed Are Forecast to Receive 10 to 15 Millimetres of Rain, meaning for this time of year, While Areas East Are Expected to Receive Five to 10 Millimetres Of Rain, The Authority Said. Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing overnight, and some of the precipitation could become snow.

“While there doesn’t appear to be a meaningful love of snow on the group, the region’s watercourses are frozen over and many daughter with snow,” the Authority Said. “The Rain Could Melt Much of the Snow Causing Additional Water to Run Off The Landscape Before It Freezes Overnight.

The Authority Said the Rain and Snowmelt, Combined With Frozen Ground Conditions and Frozen Watercourses, Should be expected to create areas of Ponding, Standing Water and Localized Flooding.

Smaller Watercourses surround the region could rise and some could also spill their banks into an adjacent low lying areas. As Ice on the Smaller Watercourses Breaks Up, blockages Could Occur Causing Localized Flooding.

“The Thames River will also respond to this rainfall,” The Authority Said. “As the River Rises, The Ice Sheet Will Lift and Detach from the River Banks.”

There are also Areas of Thin Ice, and Even Open Water on the River, The Authority Said.

While The Ice Sheet Could Break Up in These Areas and Begin Moving, the Authority Said Full Breakup of the River Ice and Flooding from the river are not expected at this time.

“However, Ice Conditions on the River Will Be Unstable and Possible Dangerous,” The Authority Said.

Although the Ltvca does not Expect to have to operate the McGregor Creek Diversion Channel at this time, it is prepa to do so if necessary.

People Should Take Extra Caution and Avoid the River, ditches, and Streams, The Authority Said.

The Combination of Slippery Banks, UNSTABLE ICE CONDITIONS, AND FAST-MOVING COLD Water can be Dangerous, The Authority Said. Standing water also can present its own unseen hazards. Children, Pets, and Livestock SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY FROM THE WATER.
