The first announcement on Smith’s mysterious matrix project caused excitement four weeks ago. It is now clear what is behind the cryptic Instagram announcement: it is a music video for his song Beautiful Scars, which borrowed parodistically from Matrix. The whole video has not yet been published, but a first teaser with one Famous scene from the sci-fi series Is there already:
At this point you will find an external content of YouTubethat adds the article. You can have it displayed with one click and hide it again.
Beautiful Scars is a collaboration between Smith and the rapper Big Sean. In the teaser, Big Sean can be seen as a parody of the Matrix character Morphheus, which Neo (Smith) presents in front of the famous choice of pills: With the blue specimen everything remains the same, the red will reveal the bitter truth: that in one Artificial world lives to be exploited.
Smith’s Neo makes a choice that Reeves’ model would probably not have come: He just takes both pills at once. What happens then we will probably only see in the finished music video.
But What does Will Smith’s new song have to do with Matrix? How the text suggests on genius.com, the song revolves around mistakes of the past and the “beautiful scars“That remains of them. Smith is very likely to be rejected by the rejection of the neo-role. But this connection is speculative. Specifically, the sci-fi series is mentioned in a line of text:
I wrote the code, I’m Mr. Smith
Cause this is the matrix
This is my regular basis
At this point Smith seems to be less of mistakes, rather he knocks on the shoulder for his willpower: on his way up, he never gave up, but “but the”code“rewritten in his own reality, like Matrix-Fiesling Mr. Smith.
It remains to be seen whether the decision against the neo role is still causing a re-written reality in addition to the Oscar slat. If so, a few blue pills could help.
