But why?

According to Brendborg, aspartame does not deserve the bad reputation it has received over the years.

– When you hear all these studies that aspartame can be harmful, it is mostly based on the fact that there are some who have done studies on mice and rats, where they have provided huge doses of aspartame in levels that you would never ever consume naturally.

Brendborg also points out that one should not replace your water intake with soda, regardless of variety.

– What we must of course remember is that when we say that artificial sweeteners are “useful” or are “okay”, so it is in relation to something. There is no doubt if you compare with the light version with a lot of sugar, it is a definite yes, he says to the radio.
