Russia’s grain export this year will decline by up to a third compared to last year. This is how the Russian Grain Farmers’ Association, Rzs, is evaluated, with 90 percent of the country’s grain.

Last year, a total of 72 million tonnes were exported. This year, the quantity is predicted to be between 48 and 49 million tonnes.
Russia has long been the world’s largest grain exporter, but it may lose its position this year. In 2023, the country received approximately EUR 15 billion in grain exports. Recently, income has decreased. Measured on a monthly basis, they have now dropped by 42 % of the top level.
Hundreds have reduced bad weather and the government’s decision to prohibit the import of seeds from abroad. Last year, the grain harvest was 125 million tonnes, with a reduction of 14 percent the previous year. Ten million tonnes of wheat were spoiled because the farms do not have proper storage facilities.
Sanctions in Russia also interfere with cultivation, as Western agricultural machines are no longer available in the country.
