Norfolk Mayor Amy Martin Takes Unpaid Leave to Run in Provincial Election

Martin Announced in Late November She is standing as the Ontario Progressive Conservative candidate for Haldimand-Norfolk.

Martin Will Be Challenging Bobbi Ann Brady, an independent Seeking re-Election. The NDP, The Liberals and the Green Party in Haldimand-Norfolk have Yet to Announce Candidates.

According to Norfolk County’s Procedural Bylaw, when the Mayor is absent, the deputy mayor acts in their place. During the Current Four-Year Term, Council Rotate in the deputy Mayor position Every Six Months.

The Current Deputy Mayor is Ward 5 coun. Doug Brunton, who will serve as Acting Mayor During the Provincial Election Campaign.

“During this Time, Members of Council, the Clerk’s Office and the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer Will Continue to Advance The Important Work of Moving Norfolk’s Business Forward and Addressing the Needs of the Community,” Said a News Release Issued by Norfolk County on Wednesday.

Depending on the Election Results, Martin with EITHER Resume Her Role As Mayor or Norfolk County COUNCIL WILL BEGIN The Process of Filling the Vacancy EITHER by SURCOINTMENT OR BY-ELECTION.

In Addition to Her Leave from Norfolk County, Martin Will Be Taking Leave from Other Positions, included, including the Grand Erie Public Health’s Board of Health; Flesh of South Central Ontario Region Economic Development Corporation; and flesh of the western ontario wrardens’ caucus.

John Bell, Vice-Chair of the Board of Health, Will Assume The Responsibility of Flesh. Kevin Marriott, Warden of Lambton County, Will Assume The Responsibility of Flesh of the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus.
