The automaker also said that the CEO of the Opel brand, Uwe Hochgeschurtzwill also assume responsibility for the commercialization of hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles worldwide.

Jean-Michel Billig began his career in 1988 in the Helicopter division of Aerospatiale, before moving to Schlumberger Industries. In 1998 he moved to Airbus, where he subsequently headed the Avionic Equipment Purchasing and Systems Engineering divisions, then became CTO of Eurocopter. In 2012 he was appointed Executive Vice President Engineering, Quality and IS of the Renault Group. In 2015 he assumed the position of CEO Zodiac Seats at Zodiac Aerospace, then in 2017 he joined the Naval Group as EVP of the Australian Future Submarine Program. Billig will report to Chief Engineering Officer Harald Wester and, functionally, to Chief Technology Officer Ned Curic.
