Sebastian Samuelsson’s play against Norway gets reactions

Sebastian Samuelsson thinks it is too many Norwegians in the biathlon World Cup.
He wants the union to change the rules, a statement that is not appreciated in Norway.
– If “Sebbe” is afraid of competition, that’s his problem, Endre Strömsheim tells NRK.

The biathlon World Cup starts on February 12 in Swiss Lenzerheide. The championship will be characterized by Norwegian herds. While strong nations like Sweden and France are allowed to settle for four riders per competition, Norway will have six riders in each individual branch. It is disturbed Sebastian Samuelsson27, on.

Sebastian Samuelsson does not like the rules

Actually, IBU (International biathlon association) says that only four practitioners may compete per nation, but there are exceptions to the rules. If a country has more than four riders who are the top 15 in the World Cup, you can put up with five of them. A sixth place may be added if you have the reigning master at a distance. In Norway’s case, the reigning champions have all individual distances. They also have six riders on the top 15 list.

One who does not think it feels very good with so many Norwegians from the start is Sebastian Samuelsson, who is chairman of IBU’s Active Committee. He wants the rules to be reviewed.
– It’s not unfair, because the Norwegians are so good. But it is a rule that should be discussed, he tells NRK, suggesting that he will take it up with the union.

Norwegians dissect Sebastian Samuelsson

Some of the Norwegian biathliers understand Samuelsson’s play. But several of them also think he is completely wrong. They are not completely satisfied with his comments about Norway.
– I think everyone who loves top sports wants as high a level as possible. If “Sebbe” is afraid of competition, that’s his problem, Endre Strömsheim tells NRK.
– If you are good enough, you have to compete. We probably could have had ten or twelve Norwegians, but he has to endure that six are included. If he wants to sell it, we can reduce to two Swedes, if we are to decrease to five Norwegians, says Tarjei Bö.

Tarjei’s little brother Johannes Thingnes Bö, who, like the brother, does his last World Cup, is also of the opinion that the rules are good. He thinks Sebastian Samelsson is completely wrong.
– It gives an extra place to one or two of the best, and I think that is right. It will not be an overdose of Norwegians in the field. When we are top 15 and go in and out of the World Cup, it is well deserved. It’s a good rule, he says.
