Champions League: this disaster scenario that must be avoided for PSG, results and classification

Champions League this disaster scenario that must be avoided for

Last day of the Champions League League phase with a match of all dangers for PSG this Wednesday, January 29.

CLAP End for the Champions League League phase this week. There are many issues and especially for PSG. After his victory against Manchester City, Paris gave himself a little air in the classification by recovering his place among the barragists and must “simply” win or draw on Wednesday evening to join the play -offs. But this is not enough because in the event of a counter performance on the lawn of Stuttgart, PSG could take the very small door. To see Paris outside the Champions League, three clubs among Benfica, Sporting, Manchester City, Dinamo Zagreb and Shakhtar Donetsk must finish in front of Parisians, here are the scenarios:

  • Manchester City in front of PSG if … he wins against the Bruges club
  • Benfica in front of PSG if … He does not lose on the lawn of Juve / He loses by a difference lower than that of the defeat of PSG in Stuttgart / He loses by a gap equal to that of the defeat of PSG in Stuttgart without Parisians registering at least 4 more goals on the last day
  • Dinamo Zagreb in front of PSG if … he wins against AC Milan
  • The Shakhtar Donetsk in front of PSG if … it wins on the lawn of Borussia Dortmund by a wide difference to reassemble its poor difference in goals (-8 against +2 for PSG)
  • Sporting CP in front of PSG if … He does not lose against Bologna / He loses by a shorter gap of two goals than that of the defeat of PSG in Stuttgart / He loses by a shorter gap of a goal than that From the defeat of PSG to Stuttgart without the Parisians registering at least 2 more goals during the last day

We will also follow the “galley match” in the words of Kylian Mbappé Faced with Brest, who always hopes for a feat and a direct qualification in eighth. Monaco and Lille, in better positions, also hope for a direct qualifier on the Inter -law lawy and against Feyenoord at home for the Dogues.

What are the new rules of the Champions League?

The Champions League lost its group stage in 2024-2025. This is transformed into a “regular season”, with a unique classification. For the first stage of this new generation champions League, each team must play 8 games (against 6 previously), each time with a different opponent. So also finished in passing the round trip system, characteristic of previous versions. The matches were decided by a draw made at the end of August and based on a system of hats, making it possible to preserve a certain equity in the course.

The Champions League then finds a semblance of normality at the end of this mini championship. One semblance only since the teams finished in the first 8 places qualify directly for knockout stages, with the teams classified between the 9th and 24th places, which will have to go through dams in a round-trip format. Previously, the final phase of the Champions League started directly with quarter -finals.

Another notable difference: the less well -classified teams (between places 25 to 36) are eliminated from the competition and none of them is drafted in the Europa League. The draw for the final phase also changes and takes place with a series of standard heads. Thus, the leader in the classification can only be found in the same part of the painting as his runner -up. The third will be in the opposite part of the fourth, ect …

Dams and final phase

The final table, made up of direct elimination matches, was organized according to mid-February dams followed by knockout stages. The grand final was scheduled in Munich on Saturday May 31, 2025.

  • Dams draw: January 31, 2025
  • Dams for the direct elimination phase: 11-12 and 18-19 February 2025
  • Full table draw: February 21, 2025
  • Eighth finals: 4-5 and 11-12 March 2025
  • Quarterfinals: 8-9 and 15-16 April 2025
  • Semi-finals: April 29-30 and May 6-7, 2025
  • Final: May 31, 2025
