The two dropped top politicians can together be entitled to almost SEK 3 million after the chat scandal in Alingsås.
The remuneration will now be investigated by the municipality.
It was last week that the Gothenburg Post revealed that moderate Daniel Filipsson, Social Democrat Simon Waern and a former V politician had a secret chat group.
In the group chat – named “Gingänget” – the politicians behind the scenes made up on various issues, but also talked badly about both other politicians and officials in Alingsås. In another chat, one of them sent nude pictures.
The disclosure struck like a bomb in the municipality, not least in the town hall.
– My picture is that it has met with both shock and dismay and very much surprise, says Niklas Ehnfors, Head of Communications in Alingsås Municipality.
– I don’t think anyone could have imagined the content of these chats and what had been going on between these people.
Departed immediately
Both Daniel Filipsson and Simon Waern, who were then chairman and vice chairman of the municipal council, resigned even before the GP published their review and later also left their parties.
The municipality will now investigate whether the two politicians should get their parachutes, which have been severely criticized by both politicians and other local residents.
According to Alingsås-Tidning, Filipsson is about almost SEK 1.8 million in fees and restructuring compensation, while for Waern it is about SEK 1 million.
The duo needs to apply for compensation within three months, which Simon Waern did via an email already this weekend. No application from Daniel Filipsson had yet to come in on Tuesday afternoon.
New municipal council
At the same time, Inger Carlborg (M) and Peter Norlander (S) have been appointed temporary replacements for the two drop -offs in the municipal council.
– It is clear that this has raised a lot of questions and concerns internally also among the officials here at the municipality, says Niklas Ehnfors.
– But we also had to shift focus quite quickly towards looking ahead and obtain a new political rule in the municipality and continue to conduct all operations that last every day regardless of scandals.
