Alexander* sleeps in a dormitory with a few others. That took some getting used to, he says. But with headphones that dampens ambient noises, he now sleeps well. Together with about 45 people who stay in the Noiz, a 24-hour shelter on the Keulsekade, he runs the household. For example, they cook and clean themselves. He is doing well, he emphasizes. “They complain here, they will remain Dutch,” he says with a smile. He sometimes does that himself, he admits. For example about the food.
