Up to 30 soldiers have been killed in an Islamist suicide attack in northeastern Nigeria, according to sources within the country’s military.
The deed happened last Friday, in connection with a Nigerian military offensive against Islamist groups in the troubled states of Borno and Yobe.
The suicide attack was one of the deadliest in recent years, where low -intensity battles are ongoing between military forces and terrorist groups.
The suicide bomber had hidden its vehicle in dense bush cakes next to a country road, and then hit a military column on progress. Military suspects that the Islamist group of Iswap, with links to the terrorism movement, was behind the act.
