Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they received the released Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Danielle Gilboa and Naama Levy and said, “The four returning hostages are accompanied by IDF special forces and ISA forces on their return to Israeli territory, where they will undergo the first medical evaluation. “Commanders and soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces greet and embrace the hostages who are returning to the State of Israel,” it said.
ISRAEL RELEASED 200 PALESTINES
The Red Cross convoy carrying Palestinian prisoners released in the second round of the prisoner swap between Hamas and Israel also left Israel’s Ofer Prison.
It is stated that among the released Palestinian prisoners, 30 were sentenced to life imprisonment and 20 were sentenced to heavy prison sentences.
In the news in question, it was stated that the people were Zekeriya Zubeydi, Ahmed Bergusi, Vail Kasım and Mahmud Atallah, who were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Zakariya al-Zubaidi, a member of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the armed wing of the Fatah Movement, is one of the 6 Palestinians captured after escaping from Israeli prison in 2021.
Ahmed Bergusi, an official of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades from the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, was arrested in 2002 and was sentenced to 13 life imprisonment and 50 years in prison.
Vail Kasim was also accused of carrying out many attacks against Israeli targets within the scope of the organization called the “Silvan Cell”. Kasım, who was arrested in 2002, was sentenced to more than 3 thousand years of imprisonment.
Mahmoud Atallah was sentenced to life imprisonment and 15 years in prison for killing a Palestinian accused of collaborating with Israel.
Hamas announced that the released female soldiers were Karina Ariev, Danielle Gilboa, Naama Levy and Liri Albag.
CEASE CEASE AND POWER EXCHANGE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HAMAS
Qatar, one of the mediator countries, announced on January 15 that an agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza.
The agreement entered into force on Sunday, January 19, at 12.15 GMT. In the first 42 days of the ceasefire agreement, which will consist of three phases, 33 Israeli prisoners and over 1,900 Palestinians will be released.
Hamas’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, handed over 3 Israeli female prisoners to the Red Cross team on January 19, as part of the first phase of the agreement.
In this context, 90 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons were released from Ofer Military Prison in the occupied West Bank hours later.
