Greenland continues to be a hot topic. Recently, the new president of the United States, Donald Trump, has shown enormous interest in the island and made several proposals. This has created great tension with Mette Frederiksen, Denmark’s Prime Minister.
Now new bids are coming from a new direction. Robert Brieger, the EU’s top military official, believes that it “would make a lot of sense” to place EU soldiers in Greenland, reports Reuters.
According to Brieger, the island’s geographic location is interesting to more countries than the United States.
– With increasing ice melting as a result of climate change, this also creates a certain potential for tensions with Russia and possibly China, he says according to Reuters.
