During an inspection in Baarn, illegal living quarters were found in garages. According to the municipality, this was a follow-up to an earlier action in which garage boxes were also checked. At that time they already had a “suspicion of illegal occupation”. The municipality does not say which garages are involved. It is also unknown whether further criminal offenses came to light. The municipality does report that “illegal living spaces not only pose a safety risk due to non-compliance with fire safety regulations, but can also lead to serious crimes such as human trafficking or illegal prostitution”.
