Olle Palmlöf was noticeably drunk during the sports gala’s after talk on Monday.
Now he breaks the silence about the scandal in SVT.
– I’m not going to drink, because if you do that in a broadcast, then you can’t do it, he says in the podcast “Ekstedt sport”.
Monday’s Sports Gala was a success for athletes who Armand Duplantis, Truls Möregårdh and Sarah Sjostrom who all won great prizes. But most of the talk afterwards was about the presenter Olle Palmlöfs behavior in SVT’s after talk. The media profile was noticeably intoxicated and slurred as he spoke and asked questions of the awardees.
SVT’s apology after the Sports Gala
Agent of sports stars Daniel Wessfeldt told after the gala that both Duplantis and Sjöström thought that the interview in the after-dinner program, which was led by Palmlöf together with SVT’s Maria Wallbergwas weird.
– Both “Mondo” and Sarah told me yesterday that there was “a strange guy” there in the studio. And that he asked strange questions, he told Expressen.

SVT, of course, distanced itself from Olle Palmlöf’s behavior and unpublished the entire afterword just under a day later.
“SVT has zero tolerance for alcohol in the service. We are taking the incident seriously and have had conversations with those concerned. SVT’s trust with our audience is of the utmost importance, and we would therefore like to apologize for this. We also want to extend a special apology to the people who were interviewed in connection with this,” wrote SVT’s program manager Christina Hill in an SMS to the same evening newspaper.
Olle Palmlöf’s first words
Now the protagonist himself has broken the silence about the scandal at the gala. In the podcast “Ekstedt sport”, which he has together with the media profile Jesper Ekstedt and the sports journalist Mats Strandberghe admits that he drank during the evening. Something he already admitted on Monday, but then took back and denied.
– I must have felt better. I was at the gala yesterday. In the beginning it went well, then I drank wine and then things got a little worse, he says.

He says he’s been trying to go underground for the past few days, staying away from other people and the media.
– Received a lot of text messages and calls. I just don’t answer. It was so much at the same time, he says.
– He who is in charge of the gala has messaged and asked about the situation. But I haven’t spoken to anyone at SVT (ed. note. The podcast was recorded on Tuesday), he also says.
Olle Palmlöf’s new lesson
In addition to the slurred speech and a couple of mispronunciations, Olle Palmlöf also received criticism for his strange questions, including to Armand Duplantis and the ping pong icon Jorgen Persson. He himself does not think that the questions were so dangerous.
– It was not strange to ask “Mondo” how high he should jump (Kjell) Isakssons rod.
He gets a question from his fellow podcasters about what he’s learned from it all. Apparently he has realized that he has behaved questionably and that he should not repeat it, because he replies:

Good of Olle Palmlöf to tell what actually happened and admit that he made a mistake. Such behavior obviously does not belong in a live television program. What do you say about his confession?
