In 2022, a new provision was introduced in the Price Information Act, which would prevent sales fraud.
More specifically, the new provision states that if a product is sold at a reduced price, then the previous price must also be stated.
“The previous price must be the lowest price the product has had in the last 30 days before the price reduction. The purpose of the provision is to prevent companies from raising the price a short time before a price reduction in order to make the sale price seem more favorable than it really is,” goes to study with The Swedish Consumer Agency.

“It is not reasonable that we as a tax payer’s money regulator should have to monitor every advertising campaign that goes on in every channel, 24/7, year round.”

The Consumer Agency’s report also states that, after the review, the authority initiated supervisory cases against 30 companies.
