At 08:00 on Thursday morning, a low pressure from the Atlantic pulls in over Sweden from the southwest.
In central and northern Götaland, western Svealand and southern Norrland, sometimes heavy snowfall is expected, which may cause traffic problems.
– In Västergötland, Värmland and Dalarna there may be 15 to 20 centimeters of snow. In many places there was no snow before so it will be difficult, says SVT’s meteorologist Pererik Åberg.
SMHI warns of icy conditions, poor visibility and snow that can cause longer travel times in traffic. Sleet may also form as the temperature will be around zero.
– You should preferably not go out into traffic if you don’t have to. Even if you will be able to drive, there will be plow trucks out and certainly some traffic accidents, says Pererik Åberg.
Problems in public transport
Public transport is also expected to be affected with canceled and delayed train and bus departures.
Where the temperature is around zero degrees, there can also be disturbances in electricity and telecommunications networks in areas where there are overhead lines.
On the night of Friday, the snowfall is expected to slow down. But a new low pressure looks set to move in already during the night to Saturday.
– This time the snowfall is expected to move in all over the country and it seems to be heavier. There will be a lot of snow and combined with wind.
