In the USA, the Donald Trump administration suspended the entry permits of refugees who were approved to travel to the country before January 27.
Shawn VanDiver, president of the organization called Afghan Evac (Afghan Evacuation), which “works to secure the US’s Afghan allies against the Taliban”, reacted to the Trump administration, which suspended the permission of refugees to enter the USA earlier than stated.
“HE STOPPED REFUGEE MOVEMENTS”

VanDiver emphasized that those directly affected by the decision include the families of approximately 200 US soldiers, as well as the families of some people who have moved to the US.
In the post made on Afghan Evac’s X account, it was stated that the US State Department “has stopped all refugee movements globally” in accordance with the new decision of the Trump administration.
Some relatives of Afghan refugees also reacted on social media to the early implementation of the Trump administration, as it could drag at least 2 thousand Afghans who were allowed to settle in the USA into uncertainty, and called on the international community and human rights organizations for support. The US media stated that among those affected by Trump’s sudden decision to stop, there were more than 1,600 Afghans who were given permission to settle in the USA within the scope of the program launched by former President Joe Biden and his administration after the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
Although Trump announced that the refugee admission plan would be suspended as of January 27, with a decree he signed on his first day in office, it appears that the implementation was started before that date.
