Olle Palmlöf’s behavior during the sports gala’s after talk has received enormous attention.
Now SVT has been forced to act after the scandal.
“Viewers must be able to expect more from a production on SVT,” writes program director Christina Hill to Göteborgs-Posten.
Armand Duplantis won the Achievement Gold and the Male Athlete of the Year and Performance of the Year awards. After the Sports Gala, he visited, together with the Female Athlete of the Year, Sarah Sjostromthe after talk of the gala which was broadcast on SVT. Once there, they were interviewed, among other things, by the media profile Olle Palmlöfwho was noticeably over-refreshed.
SVT apologized after the Sports Gala
Many viewers reacted to the fact that the presenter, who led the post-talk together with SVT Sports Maria Wallbergacted inappropriately and slurred when he spoke. Palmlöf allegedly admitted to Expressen that he “drank alcohol”, something he later denied. In any case, Armand Duplantis reacted to the fact that the interview was strange.
– I didn’t really understand what happened. I was a little absent after the gala. You have to ask him. It was what it was. What to say? Maybe a little strange actually, but life goes on, says “Mondo” to Expressen.

Because several viewers contacted SVT after the scandal at the Sports Gala, the channel apologized on Tuesday.
“SVT’s trust with our audience is of the utmost importance, and we therefore want to regret what happened. We would also like to extend a special apology to the people who were interviewed in connection with this. The sporting event is a purchased viewing right and formally speaking, it is the production company that is responsible on site, but SVT has the publisher responsibility. And as I said, talks are being held with the parties concerned. Apologies again,” writes Johanna Bäckström Lernebynews manager and responsible publisher at SVT Sport, to a TV viewer who contacted Sportbibeln.
SVT’s move after Palmlöf’s piano stomp
SVT has also announced that they have held talks with all parties involved. They take what happened seriously, which is why they have now also been forced to act in a different way. The channel has actually unpublished the entire after talk. It can no longer be seen on SVT Play. Göteborgs-Posten has had email contact with SVT’s program director Christina Hill. She tells us more about the new crisis move.

“The production did not live up to SVT’s quality requirements and for that reason and with consideration for everyone involved, we have chosen to unpublish the afterword from SVT Play. The Sports Gala itself is of course still to be seen in its entirety,” she writes to the newspaper and continues:
“Unfortunately, both that and other conversations are affected by the presenter’s behavior. Viewers must be able to expect more from a production on SVT”.
