She describes herself as a “follower of Christ and filmmaker”. Born in Nairobi, Angela Wanjikuy Wamai studied film in Havana, Cuba, before returning to Kenya to become a film editor and take African stories on the road. In her first feature film, she is bold in recounting the roots and repercussions of a boy’s sexual abuse. With “Shimoni”, she won the Bronze Stallion at the prestigious Fespaco and traveled the world through festivals.
