Contemporary populism fueling resentments to gain power

The term became omnipresent in the 2010s. It is used to designate very different movements, often marked by an authoritarian temptation. For their detractors, they embody a new threat to democracy. This notion, however, has a complex history, which must be understood in order to better detach itself from it, in order to determine what makes up the specificities of today’s populism and on what it bases its true heritage.
