A national campaign to raise awareness of digital uses has just been launched by several large French companies and organizations. Objective: to make “digital technology more accessible and secure for all”.
One in two French people still lack confidence when using the internet. An alarming figure at a time when digital technology is everywhere in our daily lives, including in public services and administration. And it is this observation that motivated a consortium of six organizations, institutions and companies – La Caisse des Dépôts, Orange, the Red Cross, Docaposte, Cybermalveillance.gouv and Inria – to launch a major national campaign on January 21, 2025. Titled Take confidenceit aims to raise public awareness of the use of the internet and digital tools.
In addition to a slogan, Take confidence is accompanied by a website on which you can find numerous practical advice and questions and answers on various subjects related to online activity. Thus, the platform tells users the right reflexes to have when they wish to transfer money, file their income tax return or even secure their social networks.
Raise digital awareness with concerned and committed stakeholders
One of the advantages of this awareness campaign is that it brings together a consortium of committed companies. Therefore, each of the six actors mentioned above has its role to play in facilitating the use of digital technology. The Orange operator acts for the accessibility of services, the Red Cross takes care of digital inclusion and will target the most remote audiences, particularly the elderly. To another extent, the government site Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr offers advice on online security. As for the company Docaposte, it brings its expertise in data security.
So many elements brought together to raise awareness of digital uses and above all to inform the French public (even the least informed) of the right actions to take when browsing the Net. Because the essence of this campaign is perhaps there. At a time when digital technology has become essential to everyday life, it is important to involve as many users as possible in its use. Such a device may therefore be suitable for French people who are cautious about the internet, particularly when it comes to carrying out administrative procedures online, recharging a public transport subscription on a smartphone or updating high-tech devices.
Certainly, the initiated will not learn anything very new. But this communication and awareness campaign is mainly aimed at a less informed public who will find clear and valuable information accompanied by practical advice. Also note that in addition to online support, Take Confidence is deployed physically in post offices and Orange stores. A good way to inform people who are not comfortable with digital technology.
