This is the worst dishwasher program yet many people use

This dishwasher program should be avoided as much as possible.

In many homes, it has become almost impossible to do without it. Designed to rinse, clean and shine dishes, it works for you. Although it saves a lot of time and allows you to make significant savings, many people still use their dishwasher very poorly.

Reflexively rinsing dishes before putting them in the appliance is a common mistake. But it’s not the only one! Among the multiple programs available on this modern device, one in particular stands out for its ineffectiveness and negative effects, and paradoxically, it is one of the most used on a daily basis.

This is the quick program. Above all, it seduces with its promise: washing in record time. Ideal for evenings where dishes need to be reused quickly, this mode seems to be a logical choice for many. It has almost become the default mode used most often. Yet, it should not be used daily for several reasons.

Unlike a regular cycle, the quick program often uses a lower wash temperature and reduced soak time. Result: stubborn residues, such as grease or encrusted food, are not properly removed. This may force you to restart a cycle or finish the job by hand, negating any initial time savings.

And that’s not the only drawback! At first glance, it may seem more environmentally friendly thanks to its reduced duration. In reality, this is not always the case. While some modern dishwashers optimize water and energy consumption even in fast mode, the majority of older appliances use more resources per minute to compensate for the shortened time. It certainly goes quickly, but it consumes a lot more energy at the start of the cycle because it will heat the water very quickly. This rapid heating quickly increases the bill.

Another aspect often overlooked, the rapid program puts your dishes and the appliance itself at risk. Fast cycles may not be suitable for certain delicate materials or specific soils. For example, glasses may remain tarnished or scratched, and greasy pans may come out almost unchanged. Additionally, frequent use of this program may accelerate the wear and tear of certain dishwasher parts, as they are designed to perform optimally on longer, more regular cycles.

To get the most out of your dishwasher, it is therefore better to opt for classic or eco programs on a daily basis. The eco cycle, although it takes longer, operates at lower temperatures and optimizes water and energy consumption. Intensive cycles are perfect for heavily soiled dishes, while delicate cycles protect your fragile plates and glasses.
