Jesperi Kotkaniemi shined as the hero of the Carolina Hurricanes in a 2–1 away victory over the Dallas Stars in the hockey NHL. Kotkaniemi scored both Hurricanes’ goals. He took Carolina to a 1–0 lead in the second period and scored a 2–1 winning goal in the third period.

Defender Rasmus Ristolainen decided the Philadelphia Flyers’ 2–1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings in overtime. Ristolainen struck just 26 seconds before the end of overtime. The goal was the Finn’s second this season. Philadelphia already stretched its point streak to six games.

San Jose melted in dramatic fashion

of the San Jose Sharks by Mikael Granlund the power went to waste in the struggle against the Nashville Predators. Granlund scored two goals and took the Sharks to a 5–1 lead in the second period with his second hit.

However, San Jose melted down in the match for a worse time. Nashville scored no fewer than four goals in the final set and won 7–5.

Juuse Saros started Nashville with a goal. Saros missed four of eight shots and was sidelined when Justus Annunen was traded for the Predators’ goal. Annunen made 15 saves in the match and surrendered once.

Montreal and Patrik Laine again in the attack

The Montreal Canadiens continued their strong streak by beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 at home. Patrick Laine get assists on two hits: by Juraj Slafkovsky for 1–2 goals and by Alex Newhook for a 2–2 draw. Laine has played 19 matches this season, in which he has scored a total of 12+5.

Jake Evans scored the Canadiens’ 3–2 winning goal with two minutes left in the third period. Joel Armia grabbed the assist for this goal.

Leevi Meriläinen on the bench in the middle of the match

The New York Rangers beat the Ottawa Senators in Madison Square Garden with a score of 5-0. Ottawa’s Finnish shopkeeper Leevi Meriläinen conceded two goals until he was called to the bench and Anton Forsberg was put on duty.
