Then he ended up in the middle of the scandal that upset television viewers.
Now “Mondo” gives his honest words about what happened.
During the Monday evening, Sweden’s best athletes were awarded at the Strawberry arena during the Sports Gala 2025. Armand Duplantis was the big winner and took home three different prizes, Truls Möregårdh won the prestigious Jerring Prize and a tearful Gunde Swan received the Swedish Academy of Sports’ honorary award to a standing ovation.
The scandal in SVT
But after the TV broadcast on SVT, “Mondo” ended up in the center of events for an extremely inappropriate action. The TV profiles Maria Wallberg and Olle Palmlöf led the program “Eftersnack” which was shown on SVT Play after the Sports Gala.

All the winners were invited, including Armand Duplantis, but many TV viewers have reacted strongly to Palmlöf’s actions in the live broadcast. He allegedly appeared drunk, slurred and many call it a scandal, see the video below.
Duplanti’s answer
Olle Palmlöf is also said to have called Armand Duplantis “Mando” instead of “Mondo” and a lot of Swedes have contacted SVT. During Tuesday, the television channel has asked for a public apology to its viewers.
“It is not SVT Sport that produces the Sports Gala, which means that we are not involved in the broadcast, except that we lend our excellent presenter Maria Wallberg. But with that said, SVT has zero tolerance for alcohol in the service. And I know that those concerned from SVT take the incident seriously and are in talks with the parties involved,” writes Johanna Bäckström Lernebynews manager and responsible publisher at SVT Sport, to a TV viewer who contacted Sportbibeln.
“SVT’s trust with our audience is of the utmost importance, and we therefore want to regret what happened. We would also like to extend a special apology to the people who were interviewed in connection with this. The sporting event is a purchased viewing right and formally speaking, it is the production company that is responsible on site, but SVT has the publisher responsibility. And as I said, talks are being held with the parties concerned. Apologies again”.

– I didn’t really understand what happened. I was a little absent after the gala. You have to ask him, says Mondo to Expressen in connection with the Athletics Gala.
